Finnish president, PM offers condolences over fire Mall

Finnish President Tarja Halonen and Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen expressed deep condolences on Thursday, victims and their families after a shootout in a shopping mall in Espoo, southern Finland.
President Halonen said that violence was a challenge to modern society. Several cases have shown that Finland still needs some improvements, although it is a relatively safe country in the world.
Prime Minister Vanhanen said in a statement that the background events are examined, including the history and origin of the weapon without a permit. According to Vanhanen, the incident has been drawn to the large quantity of firearms in Finland. He also noted that broad cooperation is needed in the Finnish society to avoid such tragedies in the future.
The Finnish Minister of Interior Anne Holmlund said the event will be thoroughly investigated.
The shooting Mall Sello in Espoo, southern Finland claims four lives on Thursday. The43-year-old was also killed, Shkupolli Ibrahim, his former girlfriend killed in a house in Espoo and pointed the weapon at the latest Thursday in an apartment. The Finnish police also said that the motivation of the suspect may be linked directly to his ex-girlfriend.
